Embracing Deep Rest For Ancestral Healing

There is a deeply ingrained pattern in the collective that leads us to believe beyond our conscious awareness, that we need to 'do' in order to 'be'. Another way of saying this is we need to 'move' to 'exist'. In a way, that is true, movement is part of the fabric of existence. However, when this manifests into human thought and body, it can be taken to an extreme that is detrimental to the essence of our being. This extreme is actually very prevalent in most people which is that in order to 'be worthy of life' they must 'do something or achieve something.' While this can be a self motivating force and a catalyst for good, it can also become an exhausting pattern where you are unable to be still, to rest. Deep rest is more than getting a good night sleep. Deep rest is when your energy field and nervous system both feel safe enough to drop into a deeper level of grounding and stillness where they can be replenished by forces greater than your conscious mind. This deeply felt divine nourishment comes through the stillness and absorbing higher frequencies of light, which can only be felt when you are very still. This becomes very hard to do when you're stressed, sick or in a place of deep fear which perpetuates the cycle because when your system needs rest and nourishment the most, is when it's hardest to attain.


I mention safety specifically because it is the sense of trust and safety that allows us to surrender our movement to something deeper and more still than us, that which is a deeper peace and ground within us. This can feel new and a bit scary when we do it for the first time. We need to feel safe within ourselves to go on this journey. The reason this is so important for ancestral healing in particular, is because alot of the time the ancestors were in survival mode and therefore at a quantum level there are patterns of fear and fear structures that vibrate and therefore also resonate through your field. This can make it very hard to feel safe at a deep enough level to get deep rest. When you do finally allow this level of nourishment in, and you drop into the depths of the ocean floor where nothing moves, that is where you can be touched by the deep feeling of rest. It is so powerful, so nourishing and so potent that you will wonder why it took you so long to allow yourself to do it. For me, accessing this was definitely a journey through ALOT of movement. I remember experiencing the true meaning of REST in an ayahuasca ceremony where I was guided into this place of being. I remember feeling so utterly mesmerised and enchanted by this stillness and depth of rest that my human mind could not fathom why I didn't allow myself to experience this on a day to day. My mind was quite simply blown - it could not get it's head around the stillness of PEACE, the depth of REST and the ground of DEATH. It took me an ego death experience to be able to feel and embody this truth within myself, and quite frankly many years of practice and trying to remember this lesson on a daily basis.


It's still difficult some days. I've always had a tendency to move, to be actively doing something, to be achieving or creating- it makes me feel alive! Some days I feel so much life force moving through me I have to move it somewhere as it feels like alot to contain and hold. What I've been learning through, is that holding this amount of charge and creativity and drive also needs to be balanced by states of consciousness that evoke and enable the deeper rest and stillness. It's not that we need to do one or the other, but finding our own unique balance point where we are getting enough of both movement and stillness, action and rest, is important. Finding this balance is a constant process of refinement and introspection.
